You helped protect a tiger–and a village 🧡

When a Sumatran tiger recently came into conflict with farmers in the Leuser Ecosystem, your generosity made it possible for our team to quickly respond. Because of you, a dangerous moment was turned into a positive outcome.

Thank you for supporting the Wildlife Monitoring and Mitigation Unit team to protect Sumatran tigers and the families they live near.

As forests shrink and villages expand, people are living closer to tigers than ever before. This brings many challenges and dangers for communities, especially for farmers.

Recently, a tiger entered farmland and sadly killed three cows. The loss was devastating for the farmer. The whole community was left worried for their safety, and at risk of striking back.

But thanks to you, our team was there. Your kindness helped protect not only this precious tiger, but also the families living nearby.

With your support, our team:

  • Located tiger tracks around the area
  • Installed a trail camera to watch for tiger and wildlife activity
  • Worked with farmers to find ways to protect farms and livestock

These swift actions reassured families that they are not alone, while also protecting the tiger from harm. Together with you, we’re helping people and tigers live peacefully side by side.

Installing a trail camera to monitor the area for tigers and wildlife, helping to alert farmers, protect communities and avoid conflict.

And we’re not stopping there. With your continued support, we’re building Tiger Protection Enclosures (TPEs)–strong shelters that keep livestock safe, prevent future conflict, and give farmers peace of mind. At the same time, they protect the Critically Endangered Sumatran tiger!

Thank you for being such a powerful champion for tigers. Because of you, families feel safer, farmers are supported, and tigers have a better chance to survive in the wild!
